Organic Spices Vs Conventional Spices

What exactly is organic food and why is it so good for health? There is no use of pesticides, artificial growth inhibitors, and hormones in the production of organic foods. Switching to organic food can be expensive at first, but once we understand the benefits it is worth the investment. Indian cuisine is incomplete without spices. It has been proved that organic products healthier and nutritious than conventional products. Due to huge demand, adulterated species are being sold in the market which does not give the proper nutrition and benefits.

WHY DROP CONVENTIONAL SPICES?

  •  Artificial colors/ flavors: Many unethical and unfair trade practices are used to increase profits from the sale of bulk prices produced in large quantities. One of them is the reduction of the cost of productions by using dangerous and artificial colors and flavors in the spices. Food coloring, corn starch, sawdust, brick powder, and other additives are added to many famous spices such as turmeric powder and red chili powder. There harsh colors and chemicals have an adverse effect on our health and cause our bodies to malfunction.
  • Irradiation and fumigation: Microorganisms can be found in unprocessed and raw spice powders, which must be extracted. Traditional producers use unsafe techniques to sterilize the spices due to high demand and mass processing to save money. Irradiation, unlike fumigation, uses microwave radiation to kill bacteria. Fumigation uses toxic substances that not only kill microbes but can affect human health. This radiation has a number of detrimental effects on the spice's nutritional profile. Methods such as these, which are meant to make unprocessed powders nutritious for humans, end up harming us even more.

REASONS TO OPT FOR ORGANIC SPICES

  • 100% natural and pure: Organic spices are produced in a natural way. These crops are not prone to chemicals, pesticides, and insecticides. For making sure that the spices grow well, organic manure is added as a natural fertilizer. Farmers grow spices by completely natural process. Organic spices may lack in their color and shine because they are not enhanced artificially.
  • Zero preservatives: Organic spices are not only cultivated but even processed organically. Traditionally, raw spices are processed with chemicals and preservatives before hitting the shelves. There are no preservatives added to organics spices. Proper care and attention are given to the spices so that microorganisms do not harm them. A huge amount of time and money is invested making sure that the spices produced are safe.·
  • More antioxidants: Any foreign substances that interfere with and affect the nutritional composition of organic spices, if they originate from organic spices relative to standard spices, antioxidants tend to have a greater impact. A number of studies have also proved the truth. Which really cuts the negativity down and tends to add the positive ones. Sounds pretty good, you don’t think?
  • Better taste and more nutritious food: As spices are fertilized with organic manure and biofertilizers and they have a high nutrient content. Because no artificial compounds manipulate the chemical composition and spices which are produced organically have a fresher fragrance and taste.

Due to the ongoing pandemic, people are becoming more conscious about their healthy lifestyle. Before buying any product, they want to know about what they are eating, where does it come from, and how it has been grown and processed. Though we may not have full awareness of every type of chemical being used in non-organic spices but we know they are hazardous to our health. Besides, the health benefits, organically grown foods avoid pollution of the soil. While much work is being done to figure out whether organically grown spices are actually more beneficial than those grown with chemicals, it does not at least have the adverse effects of the chemicals, which would be worth the extra pennies you have to dig out of your wallets.

Think Good, Think Organic!
